Term 1

Making the Gruffalo
We love reading

Welcome!

In term 1 we have been getting to grips with a new way of learning maths, Singapore style! We have been making up number stories and adding by counting on, using a number line. In English we have been really trying hard with our phonics and using them in our reading and writing.

We have also been learning about ourselves. We have labelled our bodies, know what keeps us healthy and can say where we live. We looked at the countries that make up the United Kingdom and their capital cities.

What else has been happening this term?

Squirrel class have had a very busy term, settling into Year 1. We know the routines of the classroom, we have learnt where everything is kept and together we have established our class rules, so that our classroom is a happy and safe place to learn.

Highlights of the term include, the Macmillan coffee morning which was fun we all had a cake and drink to help raise money. We also raised money doing a fun obstacle course. We have been learning new songs and preparing for our Harvest Festival celebration at the church at the end of term.
