An exciting opportunity has arisen within our fantastic Infant school for an ambitious, qualified, committed and enthusiastic teacher to join our driven and talented team in the position of class teacher.

We warmly welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified teachers. We are a warm and friendly, Church of England school at the heart of the community.

We are looking for an outstanding infant practitioner who is a creative and imaginative teacher who can further develop our school. You must be able to plan highly effectively to meet the needs of all children. Excellent classroom management skills and high expectations of all pupils are essential as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the infant curriculum.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Supports and helps promote the school’s Christian vision and ethos
  • Is a good primary practitioner with proven ‘good’ teaching and learning with the highest expectations of pupils and themselves 
  • Is committed to raising standards of achievement 
  • Demonstrates very high expectations of learning, achievement and behaviours 
  • Is enthusiastic, imaginative and forward thinking 
  • Has the ability to inspire, motivate and engage children to achieve and succeed 
  • Is able to form positive relationships with children, staff, parents and governors 
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and organisational skills 
  • Can lead subject/s (subject/s negotiable) across the school – not for NQTs in their first year
  • Has a knowledge of Read, Write, Inc phonics
  • Has an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

In September 2015 with two other local Church Schools, we formed Medway Anglican school’s Trust and we continue to build on these exciting times.  For this post you must be passionate and ready for a new challenge.  If you are interest then informal visits to the school are both welcomed and encouraged.

Essential educational requirements

Candidate must have a teaching degree.

Essential qualifications

Candidate must have QTS.

Essential skills and experience

Ability to motivate, encourage, empower and inspire children and adults

To have a working knowledge and experience of implementing the KS1 curriculum.

To understand the statutory framework relating to teaching

Have a good knowledge of how to teach phonics and Read, Writ,Inc.

To have a good understanding of the way in which children develop

To understand and value the role of parents and carers in supporting children

The ability to establish rapport and respectful and trusting relationships

To work effectively as part of a team

To raising achievement

To understand what is meant by safeguarding

To understand and comply with children protection procedures

To demonstrate commitment to and 
evidence of Continuing Professional Development


About St Johns Church of England Infant School

St John’s is a small three class primary school with 90 children on roll is situated in a town environment. We enjoy support from our parents, the church and the community. Our children enjoy school, make good progress, and are happy and well-behaved. In 2018, the school received a Good Ofsted inspection grade.
